چکیده

Bacterial adhesion to surfaces is the first step in biofilm formation, which leads development of conditions that may compromise health status patients. Surface modification has been proposed reduce bacterial biomaterials. The objective this work was assess and compare Streptococcus mutans surface biomimetically-modified stainless steel using different topographies. Stainless plates were modified a soft lithography technique following biomimetic approach. leaves from Colocasia esculenta, Crocosmia aurea Salvinia molesta used as models. Silica sol synthesized sol-gel method. Following technique, transferred SS plates. Natural characterized by means atomic force microscopy contact angle. adhesion. Contact angle measurements showed natural are highly hydrophobic, but such hydrophobicity could not be metallic Roughness varied among increased after transference for C. esculenta decreased aurea. In general, two models investigation positive results reduction (C. esculenta), while other an increase (S. molesta). Therefore, since approach opposite results, careful selection model needs taken into consideration.

Comparing Streptococcus Mutans Adhesion by Using Different Orthodontic Bracket Ligations: An In Vitro Study

Introduction: Orthodontic treatments and brackets application with various ligature methods have increased worldwide, but the growth rate and mechanism of microorganism adhesion to these ligatures is not fully discovered. The current study aimed to compare the level of streptococcus mutans adhesion to three different ligation methods. Materials and Methods: This in vitro study was performed on...

Cell Adhesion On Surfaces Of Varying Topographies

Micro-topography of a surface in?uences cell adhesion and proliferation. To improve adhesion, polyelectrolyte multilay ers (PEMs) are built on patterned support layers to increase surface Wettability, thereby improving attachment and spreading of the cells. Physical parameters, such as pattern siZe and pitch, in part, regulate cell adhesion and prolifera tion. Varying the surface topography pro...

Composite rebonding to stainless steel metal using different bonding agents.

The purpose of this study was to determine the in vitro bond strengths of composite rebonded to stainless steel crown metal (SS) using five different bonding agents after composite to SS bond failure had been produced. The adhesive systems were applied to the failed bonds following the manufacturers' instructions and, as a control, composite was bonded to SS without using a bonding agent. Each ...

Effect of milk proteins on adhesion of bacteria to stainless steel surfaces.

Stainless steel coupons were treated with skim milk and subsequently challenged with individual bacterial suspensions of Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas fragi, Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, and Serratia marcescens. The numbers of attached bacteria were determined by direct epifluorescence microscopy and compared with the attachment levels on clean stainless steel with two differe...

Adsorption of Proteins on Stainless Steel Surfaces

Understanding adsorption phenomena on stainless steel surfaces is of important because stainless steel is widely used from food and dairy to pharmaceutical industries. Protein adsorption and fouling undermines the efficiency of stainless steel process equipments and leads to an increase in operational costs due to regular cleaning. For this reason, adsorption of milk proteins on stainless steel...
